UNANIMOUS partnered with Millard South High School to refresh their school branding and create a visual identity that is modern, functional, and instantly recognizable as Millard South. Their existing logo was challenging to reproduce with legibility, and their graphic files were dated and difficult to use. UNANIMOUS simplified the mark for usability and updated the visual elements to modernize the brand.
The design was directed with the concept of "evolution" rather than "revolution." The Millard South brand has a rich history and a tradition of success that the UNANIMOUS design team was committed to highlighting. They focused on modernizing logo marks and creating a system for consistent use of brand elements across all mediums.
The Millard South family of logos includes a primary monogram, wordmark lockups, and alternate badges. Each of these has various options for multiple applications–from full-color versions with detailed accents to simplified one-color versions. It was important to build a cohesive collection of logos that display well on digital and print, in athletic and academic applications, and is legible on a smartphone and large banners.
Millard South has many passionate supporters. The goal was to design a visual identity that sparked excitement, created engagement, and encouraged brand ownership. Students, families, alumni, faculty, and fans are key drivers of Millard South's continued success and played a major role in the creative direction of the brand evolution for the Millard South Patriots.
Once the final design was approved, the files were updated, and a detailed brand standards guide was developed and distributed. The guide provides specifications for use, replication, and includes a family of logos that are flexible, versatile, and adaptable for all applications.
