New Nebraska Supreme Court Web Design Launched

The Nebraska Supreme Court is making it easier to access online information about the state's judicial system. In partnership with UNANIMOUS, the Court launched a new website located at supremecourt.nebraska.gov.

The extensive collaboration on the Nebraska Supreme Court’s website began with research. UNANIMOUS conducted research through a variety of means, including Google Analytics, back-end administration review, and stakeholder focus groups. This helped inform recommendations for creating an organized, accessible and easily-managed website.

The Nebraska Supreme Court’s website is a critical tool for communication, education, and operations. As a resource for both attorneys and the public, the Court’s new website is focused on the user experience, placing key information and time-sensitive content at the forefront. The navigation is clear, streamlined and includes key call outs such as directories, forms, and self-help. A quick resource menu requires fewer clicks to get visitors quickly to where they want to be. The unified navigation structure throughout the site provides a better user experience.

The homepage features quick access to timely information such as Court opinions and rule amendments. Seven directories were consolidated into one dynamic interface. New robust search capabilities allow visitors to easily find and locate specific content.

Managing the website’s 50,000+ pages is also more efficient. Seventy content types were reduced to 33. The flexibility of the Drupal CMS allows website authors to schedule and post content for set timeframes, export, and import data, and utilize back-end processes to support efficient content management. An Intranet component provides easy access for its 1,900 users.

The website design is responsive, making it accessible on all devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. This is especially important as more people, and in particular, those with limited means, use only tablets or smartphones to access the Internet.
